Hard Love

Role(s) in Project:

  • Writer
  • Director
  • Producer
  • Sound
  • Editing
  • Cinematography

Hard Love follows the main character, Amelia, as a fight with her husband triggers a bad memory of a similar fight with her mother. This project was shot, edited, written, and produced by me in the span of just 2 months for KU’s FMS303 course in Directing. The project was extremely difficult to schedule, but the final product is well and truly worth the effort.

Can I Ask You Something?

Also as part of my time in the Acting for the Camera course at KU, I was able to work on

a short-film titled “Can I Ask You Something?” The film follows two girls who are longtime

friends. After a couple of years apart, Violet and Ellie meet up to catch up with each other.

However, Violet has something to reveal to Ellie... and Ellie’s the last person she

has to tell. This project was a difficult subject for me to touch on, especially as a queer

woman myself. Regardless, this film exhibits my desire as a filmmaker to provide

voices to those who are historically unheard.

The Customer is Never Right

As part of my time in KU’s FMS 303: Seminar in Acting for the Camera, I was

able to strengthen my ability to work with actors. As part of this course,

we made PSA’s/commercials about issues that we hold strong beliefs in.

My group and I decided on a single slogan: The Customer is Never Right.

This project spawned from that concept. I had never done this particular

VHS effect before, but I believe that the result more than proves

my ability to learn and deliver quality videos under time pressure.

Shawnee Mission Encounter: PTA Fun Run

Role(s) in Project:

  • Producer
  • Editing

As part of the Shawnee Mission West Advanced Video Production

program, I was given the responsibility of working on the Shawnee
Mission School District’s Encounter program. Encounter allowed
students the opportunities to gain experience in field reporting and
creating video newsreels based on events happening around the
district. This particular Encounter took place at East Antioch
Elementary School, where the school’s PTA held a Fun Run to
encourage active lifestyles for their students.

Designated Podcast

Role(s) in Project:

  • Producer
  • Editing
  • Host/Co-Host
  • Graphic Design
  • Sound Production

Designated Podcast was a podcast hosted by me and a few other
friends of mine where we discussed MLS and other various USA
related soccer things. This project was started during the pandemic
as a way for us to keep active in the soccer discussions despite the
shutdown of soccer around the globe. I did all of the graphic design,
editing, sound recording, and I hosted on a majority of the episodes.
Although the project had a fluctuating lifespan, it’s still something that
me and my friends had a lot of fun producing.

Ding

Role(s) in Project:

  • Writing
  • Editing
  • Co-Director

“Ding” follows the story of a girl who gets stuck in an inescapable hallway in a place of anxiety. The film was produced as a final project for KU’s FMS275 course in Basic Video Production. This project started around the time that we were still filming and editing for our other project for the semester, our documentary short film. It was difficult working on multiple projects at the same time, but we managed to get both of them done on time.
